A tense one-on-one respawn mechanic and excellent level design make for the best battle royale since Apex Legends. Check out our Call of Duty Warzone review below. Problem was, you had to buy Black Ops 4 to play it-and then Apex Legends released a few months later, for free, and took all the wind out of Blackout’s sails (and sales).
Activision’s back for round two though, and this time it’s being smarter about it.

How id Software turned the iconic FPS into a cerebral action game Doom (2016) was one of the most successful relaunches of a major franchise alongside Assassin’s Creed 2 and Resident Evil 7. It brought the series, and FPS design, back to the basics with one of the purest examples of the genre in a long time.
The follow-up, Doom Eternal, isn’t just a bigger-budget sequel. In some important respects, it’s a complete inversion of Doom’s design.

This week, I experienced a harrowing journey across a post-apocalyptic America: the shell of a former empire caught in the middle of a deadly pandemic, its cities burning and torn apart, fraught with conflict between warring groups of reactionaries and progressives.
I also played The Last of Us Part II.
One can be forgiven for assuming that the The Last of Us Part II, uncanny resemblances to our present moment aside, would be a timely and cutting-edge addition to the video game medium.
